When the SSW lifted the art ban in 2019, our community’s creative juices burst open like a dam. Since then it’s been such a pleasure to watch our earthworms go from “what in the heck is a brush pen?!” to “Ms. Daling, check out this tapestry I painted!”
So I just had to log on to our community blog and show off some of my favorite submissions to last Sunday’s art fair. Alright enough yappin’ from me, let’s see some art!
At only 14, Initiate Jenny Hawthorne wowed us with this digital drawing of a sunny day in the Hyperburrow. Thanks for the submission, Jenny!Watching Harry Dobbs grow from addict to artist to visual-poet has been such an honor. Never stop expressing yourself, Hare.Cassandra Dabney captured my heart with this beautiful message. It’s so important! It’s always so cool to watch Lucia Gonzales find new creative ways to turn ideas Egyptian. Keep the Egypt coming, Lucia. This self-portrait by Ludwig Primm really nails it. Just goes to show how important it is to be in touch with yourself, and then express that through art.I love this piece by Peter Coleman because it reminds me of a good ol’ fashioned hoagie! A hoagie that will deliver us to eternal salvation.Shane Bailey is always doing such cool stuff with colors. Also love that wet portal. Thanks Shane! This one gave me the willies at first. But after sitting with it, I’m proud of Barry Kieffer for his originality. But next time let’s lighten up the tone a bit, Barry.
Alright that’s all the art highlights for now. Y’all should be so proud of yourselves. I know I am! Don’t forget that next month’s focus is mud sculptures.
